Pokopia Bleak Beach Pokemon list — every coastal and fishing spawn

Bleak Beach is the mid-to-late-game coastal region of Pokemon Pokopia and home to 26 Pokemon species. The region introduces Sky habitats (the cliff zones above the beach), the fishing system, and most of the game’s Water-type roster. Spawn density is higher than Rocky Ridges because there are more sub-zones — beach, shallows, deep water, lighthouse cliffs, and tide pools all have their own spawn pools.

This is the complete list of every Pokemon that spawns in Bleak Beach, where to find them, what time and weather windows apply, and the habitat tier each one needs. For the full regional context, see our Bleak Beach walkthrough, and for parallel regions see the Withered Wasteland and Rocky Ridges lists.

How Bleak Beach Spawns Work

Bleak Beach has five sub-zones, each with different spawn rules:

  1. Beach surface — Plains Lv2-3 habitats, mixed Pokemon
  2. Shallow water (fishing tiles) — fishing rod required, Water-type spawns
  3. Deep water (boat-only zones) — high-tier fishing rod required, rare Water spawns
  4. Lighthouse cliffs — Sky Lv1-3 habitats, Flying-type spawns
  5. Tide pools — small water pockets, Bug and Water hybrid spawns

The fishing system works on top of the regular spawn flag. You bring up a Fishing Rod, cast on a fishing tile, and a roll happens against the spawn pool for that tile + weather + time. Hooked Pokemon either escape, befriend on the spot, or trigger a follow-up encounter on the beach.

Combee is particularly important — it produces Honey, which is the keystone item for Pokemon attraction across all regions. See our honey guide for the full Honey progression.

Magikarp evolves into Gyarados, one of the strongest mid-game Pokemon for both combat and water utility. Befriending Magikarp early and leveling it up gives you Gyarados access well before the late game.

Lapras is the trophy mount of Bleak Beach. It only spawns in deep-water boat zones, which means you need to reach Lighthouse Repair completion + the Boat unlock from the Important Requests walkthrough.

Tropius is one of the few Pokemon that produces fruit naturally. Befriending it gives you a renewable berry source in the cliff habitat.

Rare Bleak Beach Pokemon (4 species)

SkarmoryFar cliff peaks8 AM-4 PMSunnySky Lv3Steel flier, hard cliff spawn
PhioneDeep storm fishing8 PM-4 AMStormPlains Lv4Rare quasi-legendary

Feebas is the trophy fishing spawn. Only 4 specific fishing tiles in the entire region produce Feebas, and the spawn requires active storm weather. Storms in Bleak Beach happen every 3-4 in-game days. Plan a Feebas hunt when the storm warning appears.

Phione is technically a quasi-legendary in the Pokemon canon but functions as a rare wild spawn in Pokopia. It does not appear on the official “5 legendaries” list because it has no dedicated habitat build — it just shows up under the right fishing conditions.

Bleak Beach Legendary: Lugia

Lugia is the storm-coastline legendary. Spawn requirements:

  • Time: night (10 PM-4 AM)
  • Weather: rain
  • Habitat: Sky Lv5 on lighthouse cliffs (not beach level), 15+ blocks above sea level
  • Comfort target: 75
  • Food: Storm Berries and Salted Fish

Lugia is the third legendary in the recommended hunt order. For the full build blueprint and the Wind Chimes interaction with rain, see our Lugia dedicated guide (or the broader legendary Pokemon guide).

Best Pokemon to Befriend in Bleak Beach

  1. Combee — produces Honey for ALL Pokemon attraction. Top priority.
  2. Magikarp → Gyarados — strong combat + water utility once evolved
  3. Wingull → Pelipper — cargo flight option for transport between regions
  4. Lapras — rare mount, worth the boat trip
  5. Krabby — early Pinch utility

After these five, you can chase the rare fishing spawns at your own pace.

Bleak Beach Fishing Pokemon Summary

The Master Rod is unlocked through the Important Requests walkthrough Bleak Beach quests. Until then, treat the Advanced Rod as your primary fishing tool.

Common Mistakes in Bleak Beach

  1. Building Sky habitats at sea level — Sky habitats need elevation. The lighthouse cliffs are mandatory for Sky Lv4+ builds.
  2. Skipping Combee — Honey production unlocks Pokemon attraction speed across all regions. Skipping Combee triples the time on every later legendary.
  3. Fishing in calm weather for storm spawns — Carvanha, Feebas, Phione, Gyarados all need storms. Fishing in calm weather wastes the rod durability.
  4. Missing the Sky Lv1 cliffside upgrade — most players think “beach” means low elevation. The cliffs above the beach are part of the region and have Sky-tier spawns.
  5. Wrong food in fishing-zone feeders — water Pokemon need water-aligned food. Berries and basic produce do not work for fish-tier spawns.

What Bleak Beach Pokemon Unlock for the Rest of the Game

  • Combee → Honey for all later regions
  • Gyarados → mid-game combat and water transport
  • Lapras → cross-region boat mount
  • Pelipper → cargo flight
  • Feebas → Milotic for postgame elegance content
  • Lugia → storm guardian + Sky comfort bonus

Bleak Beach is also the gate to Sky habitat tiers, which directly enables the Sparkling Skylands progression. Players who skip past Bleak Beach often find that Skylands progression stalls until they come back.

For the parallel late-game region, see the Sparkling Skylands Pokemon list.

FAQ

How many Pokemon are in Bleak Beach? Bleak Beach has 26 Pokemon species across coastal beach zones, fishing waters, lighthouse cliffs, and the Sky Lv1 cliff habitats. Most are Water-type, with strong representation from Flying and Bug-types.

What is the rarest Pokemon in Bleak Beach? Feebas is the rarest non-legendary Bleak Beach spawn. It appears only in specific fishing tiles during stormy weather, and most players need 50+ casts to find one. Lugia is the legendary.

How do I catch fishing Pokemon in Pokopia? Fishing Pokemon in Bleak Beach require a Fishing Rod (basic, advanced, or master tier) and the right bait. Different tiles produce different species, and weather changes the spawn pool. See our water physics guide for full mechanics.

Can you find Lugia in Bleak Beach? Yes. Lugia is the Bleak Beach legendary and spawns on Sky Level 5 cliff habitats at night during rain. The lighthouse area is the canonical Lugia hunting ground. See our Lugia guide for full details.

Are Bleak Beach Pokemon active during rain? Many of them yes — rain unlocks the spawn flag for several Water-type species and triggers Lugia’s window. About 40% of Bleak Beach spawns prefer or require rain weather.
