Sparkling Skylands is the endgame region of Pokemon Pokopia and home to 28 Pokemon species — the most of any region. The Skylands sit above the cloud layer as a series of floating islands connected by wind currents and elevated platforms. The roster leans heavily into Flying, Psychic, and Cosmic-aligned Pokemon, plus two of the five legendaries (Jirachi and Rayquaza).
This is the complete list of every Pokemon that spawns in Sparkling Skylands, where to find them, what time and weather windows apply, and the habitat tier each one needs. For broader regional context see our all regions guide, and for the parallel mid-game region see the Bleak Beach Pokemon list.
How Sparkling Skylands Spawns Work
The Skylands has four sub-zones with different spawn rules:
- Main floating islands — Sky Lv2-3 default habitats, regular spawns
- Cloud bridges — narrow connectors between islands, transient Pokemon
- High platforms — Sky Lv4-5 habitats, rare spawns
- Cosmic peaks — Sky Lv5 with Cosmic-tier decorations, legendary spawns
The starfield effect is unique to the Skylands. On clear nights, the sky fills with bright stars and a subtle shimmer. Several Pokemon spawn flags are tied to this visual effect — if you see clouds or fog at night, those Pokemon will not appear.
Common Sparkling Skylands Pokemon (10 species)

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pidgey (sky variant) | Main islands | All day | Any | Sky Lv2 | Flight scout |
| Hoppip | Cloud bridges | All day | Sunny | Sky Lv2 | Wind drift |
| Skiploom | Cloud bridges | All day | Sunny | Sky Lv2 | Hoppip evolution |
| Drifloon | Main islands | 8 PM-2 AM | Any | Sky Lv2 | Float (carry items) |
| Swablu | Main islands | 6 AM-6 PM | Any | Sky Lv2 | Cloud nest |

| Murkrow | High cliffs | 8 PM-4 AM | Any | Sky Lv3 | Night patrol |
| Beldum | Floating ruin islands | All day | Any | Sky Lv3 | Magnetic flight |
Drifloon is the unique utility spawn of Skylands — it can carry small items between islands without needing a path. Useful for traversal puzzles.
Beldum is the gating species for Cosmic-tier crafting. Its Magnetic Flight ability is required to reach a few platforms that no other Pokemon can access.
Uncommon Sparkling Skylands Pokemon (12 species)
| Pokemon | Sub-zone | Time | Weather | Habitat | Notes |

| Altaria | Main islands | 6 AM-6 PM | Sunny | Sky Lv3 | Swablu evolution |
| Jumpluff | Cloud bridges | 8 AM-4 PM | Sunny | Sky Lv3 | Skiploom evolution |
| Drifblim | Main islands | 8 PM-2 AM | Any | Sky Lv3 | Drifloon evolution, larger carry |

| Togetic | Wish platform | 8 AM-4 PM | Sunny | Sky Lv4 | Joy-tier comfort buff |
| Espeon | Cloud bridges | 8 AM-4 PM | Sunny | Sky Lv3 | Eevee evolution (sun-aligned) |
| Umbreon | High cliffs | 8 PM-4 AM | Any | Sky Lv3 | Eevee evolution (moon-aligned) |
| Gardevoir | Cosmic peaks | 6 AM-6 PM | Any | Sky Lv4 | Psychic-fairy hybrid |
| Lunatone | Cosmic peaks | 8 PM-4 AM | Clear (starfield) | Sky Lv4 | Moon-aligned cosmic |
| Solrock | Cosmic peaks | 8 AM-4 PM | Sunny | Sky Lv4 | Sun-aligned cosmic |
Salamence is the carryover from Rocky Ridges — befriending Bagon there and evolving it gives you Salamence here, which is the strongest flier in the game outside of legendaries.
Espeon and Umbreon are the Skylands-accessible Eevee evolutions. Other evolutions (Vaporeon, Flareon, Jolteon, Leafeon, Glaceon, Sylveon) require region-specific habitats elsewhere.
Rare Sparkling Skylands Pokemon (4 species)
| Pokemon | Zone | Time | Weather | Habitat | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Latias | Cosmic peaks | 8 PM-4 AM | Clear (starfield) | Sky Lv5 + Cosmic decorations | Pseudo-legendary, mount option |
| Latios | Cosmic peaks | 8 PM-4 AM | Clear (starfield) | Sky Lv5 + Cosmic decorations | Pseudo-legendary, fast flight |
| Metagross | Floating ruins | All day | Any | Sky Lv5 | Metang evolution, top-tier combat |
| Cresselia | Wish platform | 8 PM-4 AM | Clear (full starfield) | Sky Lv5 + Moonstone decorations | Quasi-legendary lunar |
Latias and Latios are the rare twin spawns. They appear only on clear-night cycles when the starfield effect is fully active. Both can be befriended on the same save, but one usually appears before the other depending on which Cosmic decorations you place first.
Cresselia is the lunar quasi-legendary that overlaps with the Jirachi habitat. Most players catch Cresselia as a side benefit while building the Jirachi habitat. The Moonstone Pedestal that Jirachi requires also enables the Cresselia spawn flag.
Sparkling Skylands Legendaries: Jirachi and Rayquaza
Two of the five Pokopia legendaries live in the Skylands.
Jirachi — wish-maker
- Time: 12 AM-4 AM, clear starlit nights only
- Habitat: Sky Lv5 with Moonstone Pedestal + 3 Star Fragments + 20+ block elevation
- Comfort target: 85
- Food: Moonlight Berries + Crystal Dew
- See our Jirachi guide for the full blueprint.
Rayquaza — sky guardian (endgame)
- Time: 12 AM-4 AM, thunderstorms
- Habitat: Sky Lv5 with Thunder Rod + 6 wind catchers + 4 Starlight Shards + 30+ block elevation
- Comfort target: 90
- Food: Sky Nectar + Thunder Berries
- See our Rayquaza guide for the full blueprint.
These are the last two legendaries in the recommended hunt order. Most players save Rayquaza for the very end.
Best Pokemon to Befriend in Sparkling Skylands
- Pidgey (sky variant) → Pidgeot — fast flight scout
- Drifloon → Drifblim — item carry between islands
- Beldum → Metagross — combat + magnetic flight
- Swablu → Altaria — sustained sky travel
- Togetic — comfort buff for late-game habitats
After these five, prioritize the rare spawns and the legendary roster.
Common Mistakes in Sparkling Skylands
- Trying to befriend Skylands Pokemon at low elevation — Sky habitats need 15+ blocks elevation minimum. Beach-level builds will not work.
- Building one Sky Lv5 for both Jirachi and Rayquaza — they have different decoration requirements. Plan two separate builds.
- Skipping the Cosmic-tier crafting unlock — without Cosmic crafting, Latias/Latios/Cresselia stay locked.
- Catching Bagon late — Salamence in the Skylands depends on Bagon from Rocky Ridges. Backtrack early if you skipped it.
- Missing clear-night cycles — they happen every 3rd night. Plan your Latias/Latios/Cresselia/Jirachi sessions during the predictable cycle.
What Sparkling Skylands Pokemon Unlock for the Rest of the Game
- Drifblim → carry traversal in postgame multi-region quests
- Metagross → top-tier combat for postgame trials
- Salamence → fastest non-legendary flight option
- Latias/Latios → pseudo-legendary roster slots
- Jirachi → Wish-Maker mechanic (weekly rare item)
- Rayquaza → high-altitude flight transformation
The Skylands is the gateway to all postgame content. The postgame guide covers what to do once your full Skylands roster is in place.
Cross-Region Pokemon That Visit Sparkling Skylands
Several Pokemon from other regions visit the Skylands under specific conditions. They do not spawn here as residents but appear during events:
- Combee — when you place Honey-aligned decorations in Sky Lv3+
- Pelipper — during cargo deliveries to floating islands
- Lapras — in postgame story events with sky access
- Skarmory — when you have Sky Lv4 cliff habitats and Steel-aligned decorations
These visits are not always trackable in the Adventure Log — they show up as “visiting friends” rather than new species. They count for friendship-tier achievements but not Pokedex entries (since the Pokemon was already registered in their home region).
FAQ
How many Pokemon are in Sparkling Skylands? Sparkling Skylands has 28 Pokemon species, the most of any region. They include high-altitude flyers, cosmic Pokemon tied to the starfield effect, and rare cross-region storm spawns. Two of the five legendaries — Jirachi and Rayquaza — also live here.
What is the rarest Pokemon in Sparkling Skylands? Latias and Latios are the rarest non-legendary Skylands spawns. They appear only on clear-night cycles when the starfield effect is fully active and require Sky Lv5 habitats with Cosmic-tier decorations.
Can you find Rayquaza and Jirachi in Sparkling Skylands? Yes. Both legendaries live in the Skylands. Jirachi spawns on clear starlit nights, Rayquaza during thunderstorms. They have different habitat blueprints — see our Jirachi and Rayquaza dedicated guides.
What habitat tier do Skylands Pokemon need? Most Skylands Pokemon need Sky Lv2 minimum, with rare spawns requiring Sky Lv4-5. The Skylands is the only region where Sky-tier habitats are the default, not an upgrade from Plains.
Are Skylands Pokemon active during rain or storms? Storms enable several rare spawns, including Rayquaza. Calm weather is preferred by most regular Skylands Pokemon. Clear, starlit nights are the special weather window for Jirachi-tier Pokemon.
